BLOOD MOON COUNTRY by Mark Andrew Thomas
For this lunar eclipse I headed out to the Florida Everglades and set up my tripod.
Complete solitude with nothing but the sound of crickets and watching the glowing eyes of alligators as they swam up and down the water. It was an amazing sight to look up and see the moon in red shadow and even more amazing to hear...nothing.
The color of the moon is actually the reflection of all the sunsets and sunrises reflecting from earth. To share it with ancient creatures that have been around since the dawn of time was almost mystical. Made me wonder how many explorers and tribes throughout the course of history have seen the same sight.
My name is Mark Andrew Thomas and I'm a photographer and filmmaker currently residing in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I grew up in Florida right next to the Everglades and although I photograph a wide variety of subjects and locations, the Florida Everglades will always be my first love.
